What We Do

Our vision is for a world where all animals are well taken care of and given the respect they deserve.

Teckels is a small, independent charity nestled in the heart of Whitminster, Gloucestershire, but our impact reaches far beyond our size.

Our dedicated animal rescue and rehoming centre is committed to providing a safe haven for homeless cats and dogs, where they can receive the care and rehabilitation they need to find their forever homes.

For some of these animals, their journey to Teckels has been marked by a troubled past. Neglected, unloved, or abandoned, they have endured hardships that no living creature should ever face. Others have experienced the pain of losing their previous owners, who, sadly, could no longer care for them.

Since our establishment in 2003, we have had the privilege of supporting around 250 cats and 150 dogs each year.

What We Believe

At Teckels, we believe in giving every animal a chance at happiness.

That is why we have a non-destruction policy, ensuring that no animal is euthanised unless it is for health reasons.

We firmly hold the belief that all creatures, no matter their circumstances, deserve the opportunity to experience a fulfilling and joyful life.

As a result, we often care for long-term residents who have yet to find their forever homes, providing them with love, compassion, and a sense of belonging.

Our Stray Rescue Services

We have also been entrusted with the responsibility of rescuing stray dogs for Stroud District Council for over 15 years.

This partnership means that we provide a safe haven for all the strays in the area, working tirelessly to reunite them with their owners or find them the loving homes they deserve.

Over the last 12 months, we have helped 167 stray dogs.

We manage to reunite around 50% of these with their owners and we rehomed around 30 of those ourselves.

The remaining dogs (around 40 or so) were taken to other rescue centres due to capacity issues or to meet their specific needs.

Our Boarding Facility

Dog Boarding

We run a boarding facility that is not-for-profit.

The money we make from offering boarding and daycare services goes directly towards funding our rescue centre.

However, these earnings are not enough to cover our monthly expenses, which amount to £45,000.

Our animals need ongoing medical care, including medications and surgeries, and some of them have special dietary needs.

As a result, our veterinary bills can quickly add up to thousands of pounds each month.

How We Are Funded

We’re 100% Donor Funded!

We deeply appreciate the amazing support we receive from our incredible sponsors, donors, and volunteers.

Your generosity means the world to us and makes a tremendous difference in our ability to save lives.

Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in sustaining Teckels and allowing us to continue our life-saving mission.

Without your compassion and dedication, none of our rescue efforts would be possible.

From the bottom of our hearts, we extend our sincere gratitude to each and every one of you.

Your support gives hope to countless animals in need, and we are truly thankful for your ongoing commitment.
