Volunteer Update – January 2026

A Happy New Year from Team Teckels!

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas with a chance for a break. A big thank you to those who came in over the festive period and helped make Christmas special for our cats and dogs.

Bill and Shirley at Tesco in Quedgeley

December was a busy month, and thanks to our amazing volunteers, we raised some fantastic totals.

Santa Paws at Pets at Home

Our team spent 20 hours collecting as part of the Santa Paws appeal. As a thank you, we’ll receive 50% of the donations raised in December – an incredible £2,543.17.

Huge thanks to Anne, Dee, Jane, Shirley, and Vik.

Supermarket Collections

We also collected at supermarkets across the Stroud area:

Waitrose Stroud: £365.55
Tesco Stroud: £576.28
Tesco Quedgeley: £888.28

That’s £1,830.11 from three collections alone! Thank you to Angie, Anne, Bill, Dave, Lesley and Shirley.

Christmas Fair

The weather was kind, and we had a brilliant day with the dog show, Santa visits, Teddy Tombola, and our charity shop stall – raising £2,298.14.

Coming Up: Spring Fair 2026

Our first big event of the year will be the Spring Fair. We’re looking at venues closer to Teckels this year – watch this space for details. If you’d like to volunteer, please get in touch.

Staying Connected

We want to make sure updates reach as many of you as possible.

Here’s how you can stay in the loop:

Facebook Group

Join our volunteer group for updates, event news, and requests for help:

WhatsApp

We’re considering setting up a WhatsApp group for quick updates and last-minute help requests. Let Lorna know if this would be useful for you.

Email

All active volunteers should receive group emails.

If you’re not getting them, add volunteer@teckelsanimalsancturies.co.uk to your contacts or safe senders list.

Noticeboards

For those at the centre or charity shop, we’ll continue posting updates on noticeboards too.

Your Ideas Wanted: Volunteer Noticeboard

We’d love to refresh the volunteer noticeboard by the stairs. What would you find most useful? Options include:

  • Ways to help
  • Upcoming events
  • Task lists
  • Animal updates

Share your thoughts with Lorna.

New for 2026: Volunteer Drop-In Sessions

Starting this year, we’re introducing regular drop-in sessions at the centre. These informal gatherings are a chance to:

  • Chat with Lorna and other volunteers
  • Ask questions
  • Share ideas and feedback

Open to all volunteers, whatever your role. We’ll vary the days and times – let us know what works best for you.

January Coffee & Chat

Wednesday 28th January | 10am–11.30am

Pop in for a cuppa and a catch-up – stay for as long as you like. We’re trialling a weekday session for those who can’t make weekends.

Tea, coffee and cake provided. Please RSVP to Lorna and mention any dietary requirements.

Thank you for everything you do.
