October 2025 – Adoption Update

Happy Tails, Festive Helpers Needed & Winter Ball Giveaway

As the leaves fall and autumn settles in, our animals are enjoying cosy blankets, crunchy walks, and lots of extra cuddles from the team and our wonderful volunteers.

September was another busy month for Teckels, filled with happy adoptions, emotional reunions, and heartwarming stories that remind us why we do what we do.

This month, alongside our adoption highlights, we’ve got a few exciting (and festive!) updates to share:

Be a Christmas Elf!

We’re looking for extra volunteers in our Stroud charity shop to help us through the busy Christmas season.

Adoption Update

September saw some lovely adoptions, with 3 dogs and 4 cats finding their forever homes.

  •  4 cats adopted
  •  3 dogs adopted

It’s also been a busy time in our cattery, with several litters of kittens born.

Our team has been working around the clock, hand-rearing tiny arrivals, supporting new mums, and nursing Nyx back to health after her emergency surgery.

Stray Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation

The need for our rescue service remained high last month:

  • 9 dogs transferred to other rescues for their best chance of rehoming
  • 6 dogs reunited with their owners
  • 1 dog became a permanent Teckels resident

Every one of these outcomes is only possible thanks to your ongoing support.

Misha’s New Beginning – From Stray Mum to Family Favourite

Misha is one of the many young stray females we welcomed to Teckels this spring.

She arrived on 13th April, heavily pregnant and in urgent need of safety. Less than two weeks later, on 26th April, she gave birth to six kittens in our care.

Her little family thrived and, by July, each of her kittens had found a loving home of their own.

But while her babies were settling into new lives, Misha was still waiting for her turn.

Despite her gentle nature and the incredible care she had shown as a mum, she was overlooked again and again.

At last, on 3rd September, her perfect match came along – a family ready to give her the love and stability she had been waiting for.

Misha is now happily settling into her new home, enjoying one-to-one affection and showing off her playful, affectionate side.

After months of watching her kittens leave, it was finally her time – and we couldn’t be happier for her.

🐾 Bill & Ben – Brothers Who Found Their Own Happy Endings

Bill and his brother Ben arrived at Teckels as strays, with no known history. Both were a little timid when they first came through our doors, unsure of their new surroundings and the people caring for them.

It didn’t take long, though, for them to realise they were safe. Within a week, they had made friends with our staff – gently seeking out fuss and beginning to show their personalities. What also became clear was that, while they got along, they were happiest having human attention all to themselves.

With that in mind, our team made the decision to look for homes separately, so each could receive the one-to-one care and love they truly craved.

The result couldn’t have been better. Both boys were adopted in the same week – Bill (now renamed Basil), the cream-coloured charmer, and his brother Ben. Their new families tell us they’re both settling in beautifully and thriving in their own spaces.

Two brothers, two forever homes, and two very happy endings. 💜

Demand for Relinquishing Animals

In September, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.

Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need and finding them loving homes remains unwavering.
