Here’s the latest update from the Sanctuary…
As December begins, we wonder where the year has gone!
November was another busy and rewarding month at Teckels, filled with hard work and dedication from our team as we continued to care for the animals who depend on us.
Two standout events marked the month: our Winter Ball and Christmas Fair. Both were fantastic occasions, and we’re so grateful to everyone who attended and supported us. These events not only raise essential funds but also bring our community together in support of our shared mission.
While rehoming numbers in November were a little quieter compared to previous months, our focus has remained on providing the very best care for all the animals at the sanctuary. With frosty mornings and the occasional dusting of snow, it’s been a chilly time for our staff and volunteers, especially when encouraging some of our more reluctant dogs to venture outside!
As we look back on November and ahead to the final weeks of the year, we want to thank you for sharing this journey with us.
Your ongoing support means everything to the animals we care for.

Martha Finds Her Happily Ever After
Martha’s story began with uncertainty. She came to us under difficult circumstances, brought in by the police after being found abandoned in a property. When she arrived, it was clear she had been through a lot—her fur was matted and dirty, and her nervous demeanor spoke volumes about her past. It took time, patience, and a lot of love to help Martha begin to trust people again.
With gentle care and consistent support from our team, Martha slowly came out of her shell. Day by day, her confidence grew, and we were thrilled to see glimpses of her sweet and loving personality emerge. After her transformation, it was time to find Martha the loving home she so deeply deserved.
Now, Martha is thriving with her new family, and we couldn’t be happier to share this wonderful update from her adopters:
“We just wanted to let you know that Martha is settling in really well and is definitely part of our family. We adore her .”
Martha’s journey from abandoned and frightened to adored and cherished is a reminder of the resilience animals show when given a second chance. Thank you to everyone who supports our sanctuary and helps us make stories like Martha’s possible!
Pixie’s Purr-fect Ending
Pixie first arrived at our sanctuary on the 14th of April, carrying more than just her little self—she was pregnant! Despite facing a tough start, Pixie gave birth to three beautiful kittens shortly after her arrival, proving herself to be a devoted and caring mum.
However, Pixie’s journey was far from easy. When she came to us, she showed signs of cat flu, and not long after, she was diagnosed with the calicivirus. This condition caused her to develop painful gingivitis, which required a complex dental procedure. Most of her teeth had to be removed, although her canines were thankfully spared. Throughout it all, Pixie showed incredible resilience and spirit.
In addition to her physical challenges, Pixie was shy and hesitant around people. But with time, patience, and plenty of love, she began to trust us. Slowly but surely, Pixie transformed into a confident and cuddly cat who loved human interaction.
After months of care, Pixie was finally ready to find her forever home. On the 24th of November, her special day arrived. During her meet-and-greet, Pixie’s sweet and affectionate nature shone through, and she instantly won over her new family.
Now, Pixie has a loving home where she can enjoy her days as a happy, healthy, and cherished companion. From a timid, unwell new arrival to a confident, cuddly feline, Pixie’s journey is a testament to the power of love, care, and second chances.
Thank you to everyone who supported Pixie during her time at the sanctuary—you’ve helped write this beautiful success story!
