May 2024 – Adoption Update

Teckels June 2024 Email

May has come and gone, bringing with it the joys of longer weekends and slightly sunnier weather. It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through 2024! As we welcome June, things are brighter than ever here at Teckels.

With the arrival of May, we enjoyed two lovely bank holidays, perfect for making the most of extended weekends.

The longer, brighter, and slightly warmer mornings are a welcome change, ideal for a sunrise stroll with your furry friend.

We hope you’re soaking in every moment as it starts to feel more summery.

At Teckels, the warmth of the weather matches the warmth of each adoption story.

It fills us with joy and reinforces our dedication to the welfare of our animals. This month, we’ve experienced many heartwarming moments and significant achievements that have brightened our days.

Our animals are finding loving homes, and we cherish their journey towards brighter futures and the happiness they bring to their adoptive families.

June is another exciting month for Events at Teckels, too!

Be sure to join us for the Teckels Car Boot event at Fromebridge Mill on Sunday, June 16th and June 30thIt’s a fantastic opportunity to find hidden treasures, and every penny from seller’s fees supports our sanctuary.

And save the date for our pub quiz on Wednesday, July 3rd, again supported by the wonderful folks at The Fromebridge Mill. Gather your friends for a fun night of trivia and laughter, all in support of our animal friends.

Our dedicated team continues to work tirelessly to provide a nurturing environment for our cats and to find loving, permanent homes for our dogs in need. Your ongoing support is vital to these efforts, and we are incredibly grateful for it.

Thank you for being an essential part of their journey.

Adoption Update

May has seen a surge of activity at Teckels Animal Sanctuary as adoption requests flood in.

Here are our adoption figures for the month:

🐱 –  Four cats have been welcomed into loving homes, where they’ve become cherished members of their new families.

🐶 – Five adoptions were secured for dogs in May, the same figure as April, we contnue to be dedicated to finding the perfect forever homes and not just the numbers!

In our commitment to providing sanctuary to strays:

🚚  – We worked with the council to rescue 18 stray animals – a 50% increase on March, and 1 more than April!

❤️  – Of these, we successfully reunited 10 with their grateful owners. Over half is an incredible achievement!

✔  – This month, none of the strays stayed at Teckels, and the remaining 8 found refuge with other rescue organisations, which ensures that they continue to receive the care they need.

These achievements would not have been possible without your unwavering generosity and support.

Your donations have been the cornerstone of our mission, offering care, shelter, and new beginnings to animals in need.

Lily’s Journey: From Spooked to Spoiled in Her Loving New Home

Lilly’s journey to Teckels began when her owners found it challenging to get along with her.

Recognising that Lilly needed a more suitable environment, her owners made the difficult decision to bring her to us.

At Teckels, we ensured Lilly was given the opportunity to adjust and find a new home where she could be understood and appreciated for her unique traits.

The latest update from her forever family is positive, too!

“Lily is doing really well. She’s settling in and is very loving but still a bit spooked and frisky at times. We are definitely getting there 😻 She seems very happy.

We will keep you updated with our progress.

Thank you so much for your help in pairing us up”

Milo the Kitten Finds His Purr-fect Forever Home!

Obb (Now renamed Milo!) and his sibling Ibb arrived at Teckels as strays.

Despite their close bond, they were rehomed separately because they thrived on individual attention and were content being the centre of their new families’ worlds.

Both Milo and Ibb have since flourished in their new environments, showcasing their unique personalities and enjoying the love and care they receive.

We love rehoming kittens and always find it easy to attract potential adopters, but we conduct thorough background checks on potential homes to ensure we’re making it purr-fect.

The latest update from his new human is positive too!

“This adorable little furball has settled in so well. He’s friendly, playful, and absolutely loves snuggling up on my kids’ beds. Milo is eating well and growing fast, always ready for a bit of mischief.

Adopted Brothers Bowie and Freddie Begin Their New Adventure

Our mission is to support owners in need, whether they are facing personal challenges, changes in living situations, or other circumstances that make it difficult to care for their pets.

Freddie and Bowie found themselves at Teckels due to their owners’ relocation.

Unfortunately, their new living situation did not allow pets, prompting their owners to seek our help.

At Teckels, Freddie and Bowie were given the chance to stay together and continue their journey in a new home, where they could enjoy a stable and loving environment.

Here’s the latest update from our wonderful adopters:

“We are completely in love with the boys. Bowie wanted to explore the house the day after getting home and is now focused on letting us know how much he wants to be outside! Freddie was much slower, spending the first few days in bed and then starting to explore at night. Last night, all four of us were hanging out in the lounge, which was lovely.

My only worry has been then not eating much (especially Freddie), but I’m hoping as the novelty of new house wears off eating will be more important for them. I’ve attached photos from their first week at home.

Thank you so much for looking after them so well. They are such fabulous boys and we feel very lucky they are ours”

We’re always here to support our adopters and have explained that eating and food habit changes are to be expected when entering a new home, and it’s something that should settle as they grow more comfortable in their new environment.

Demand for Relinquishing Animals

Just like April, we’ve seen an increasing number of people seeking to relinquish animals in need.

In May, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.

Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need and finding them loving homes remains unwavering.
