January 2026 – Adoption Update

Fresh Starts & Forever Homes

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break and are settling into the new year.

While the festivities wound down, our team were here around the clock – feeding, walking, cuddling, and caring for the animals who call Teckels home.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Christmas campaign. Your generosity is helping secure a wonderful future for the animals in our care – and we couldn’t do it without you.

And if you’re still looking for a New Year’s resolution to keep, why not make 2026 the year you adopt, volunteer, or become a regular donor?

We’d love to have you along for the journey.

Whether you’ve been part of the Teckels family for years or are just discovering us, here’s what’s been happening…

📅 Dates for the Diary

  • Spring Fair – Plans are underway! Keep an eye on your inbox for details coming soon.

🐾 Adoption Update

December was a wonderful month for rehoming, with 5 dogs and 14 cats finding their forever families – all early in the month, as we don’t condone pets as presents.

One of those lucky dogs was Brisco, a long-stay pup whose story we’re sharing below.

🚨 Stray Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation

December was another busy month for our stray services:

  • 31 stray dogs came into our care
  • 8 were happily reunited with their owners
  • 22 were transferred to partner rescues
  • 1 – Nic, the lovely Pug, has joined us as a Teckels resident and is ready for adoption!

Every single success story is only possible thanks to your ongoing kindness, donations, and belief in what we do.

🎁 Thank You for Your Christmas Kindness

We’re still glowing from the generosity shown over the festive season.

This year’s Shoebox Appeal was our best yet – and the animals have been enjoying every treat, toy and cosy blanket.

To everyone who donated, dropped off a shoebox, or spread the word – thank you.

Your kindness made Christmas special for so many animals waiting for their forever homes.

🐕 Brisco’s Long-Awaited Happy Ending

Some animals wait longer than others – but their happy ending is all the sweeter when it finally arrives.

Brisco came to Teckels through no fault of his own. An older chap with a bit of a cantankerous streak, he definitely had his favourite (and less favourite!) staff members. Despite his charm, interest in Brisco was slow during his 12-month stay with us.

But just before Christmas, a very loving and patient couple saw something special in him – and the rest is history.

Brisco is now adoring car rides, home life, and has built such trust with his new mum and dad that he’s finally discovered the joy of cuddles on the sofa.

Brisco’s story is a beautiful reminder that the right home is worth waiting for – and that patience and love can transform even the most set-in-their-ways pups.

Demand for Relinquishing Animals

Just like November, we’ve seen an increasing number of people seeking to relinquish animals in need.

In December, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.

We know that for many families, giving up a pet is a last resort – and we’re doing what we can to help keep animals in their homes.

Our pet food bank supports those struggling to feed their pets, and our charity shop in Stroud offers low-cost pet items to ease the financial burden of pet ownership.

Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need – whether that’s finding them loving homes or helping them stay in the ones they have – remains unwavering.

Help us Continue Our Mission.

Thank you to everyone who donates to Teckels. Your generosity is making a profound difference.

Your support is the driving force behind our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for animals in need. Every contribution plays a vital role.

We invite you to become a donor today and continue making a difference.

Your support enables us to provide care, shelter, and hope to countless animals seeking a second chance at a better life. Together, we can create positive change and ensure a brighter future for these animals.

Join us in making a lasting impact today.
