Love is in the Air: February at Teckels
With the days getting longer and spring just around the corner, February has been a month of new beginnings here at Teckels.
While Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, love is something our animals receive all year round—from our dedicated team to the incredible adopters giving them their forever homes.
As we reflect on the past few weeks, we’ve seen heartwarming adoptions, incredible transformations, and plenty of wagging tails and happy purrs.
There’s never a quiet moment at Teckels, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Adoption Update
The new year kicked off immediately and January was a busy month for rehoming, and we are delighted to share the latest figures:
Cats Adopted: 15 cats found their forever homes in January, and with two returning and successfully being rehomed, that brings the total to 15 happy endings for our feline friends.
Dogs Adopted: January was also a wonderful month for our canine companions, with 4 dogs finding loving new homes. Each one has embarked on a fresh start with their adoptive families, ready for a future filled with love, adventures, and plenty of belly rubs!
In our ongoing work with stray and abandoned animals:
- Stray Animals Rescued: We took in 11 stray animals during January.
- Reunited with Owners: 3 were successfully reunited with their families.
- Teckels Intake: 2 amazing animals stayed at Teckels, where we’ll rehabilitate them before searching for the perfect forever home.
- Moved to Other Rescues: 6 were transferred to other sanctuaries where they will have the best chance of finding a home.

Phoebe’s Journey: From Timid to Thriving
When Phoebe arrived at Teckels, she was a shy and withdrawn little cat, unsure of the world around her. She spent her first few months with us keeping to herself, slowly adjusting to the new environment.
She had been through a lot—an intensive dental procedure left her with just four teeth, and not long after, she developed a cyst on her jaw that needed treatment. Through it all, we saw glimmers of the sweet cat hidden beneath her cautious nature.
It took time, but in her last month with us, Phoebe finally started to come out of her shell. She became more comfortable, and we could see her confidence growing.
Just as she was truly ready to find a home of her own, Sophie came along—ready to give Phoebe the love and patience she needed.
Now in her forever home, Phoebe is settling in beautifully. Her first few hours were spent cautiously tucked away under the bed, but each day, she’s growing bolder. She’s started to explore downstairs and enjoys playtime in the evenings—especially with an old shoelace!
For now, she’s staying indoors, but she’s already watching the birds from the window, no doubt planning future adventures.
We’re so happy to see Phoebe finding her confidence and enjoying the comforts of a loving home.
Thank you, Sophie, for giving her the fresh start she deserved!
Mo’s Road to Recovery: A New Beginning
When Mo arrived in our care, we knew she had a difficult path ahead. At just 8 months old, she had already endured so much due to poor breeding, leaving her with severely wrinkled skin that caused painful eye problems. Her vision was impaired, she suffered from frequent infections, and even simple daily activities were a struggle.
Our vets initially attempted a temporary fix by tacking her eyelids, but it soon became clear that she needed a long-term solution. Without surgery, her quality of life would continue to deteriorate.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise the £2,000 needed for her specialist entropion surgery and facelift—giving her the chance to live pain-free for the first time.
Mo underwent surgery recently, and we’re thrilled to share that it was a success! She also had her spay at the same time, ensuring she wouldn’t need to go through another round of anaesthetic. She’s now recovering in a loving foster home, where she’s finally able to relax and experience life without constant discomfort.
Despite everything she’s been through, Mo remains the sweetest, most affectionate girl. She loves cuddles, enjoys company, and is showing just how strong and resilient she truly is. Soon, she’ll be ready to take the next step—finding her forever home.
None of this would have been possible without you. Every donation, share, and kind message helped give Mo the future she deserves. We can’t wait to see her find the perfect family and live the happy, pain-free life she was always meant to have.
Thank you for being part of Mo’s new beginning!
Dexter’s Christmas Rescue: From Tiny Pup to Big Adventures
Just a few weeks before Christmas, we received an urgent call for help. A young dog had unexpectedly given birth, but heartbreakingly, only two of the puppies survived. With the mother in need of support and the tiny pups still so vulnerable, we stepped in to offer them the best possible care during the festive season.
Mum and her two surviving pups, Dexter and his sister, arrived at Teckels just in time for some extra TLC. We made sure they were warm, well-fed, and safe, with plenty of love from our dedicated team. Despite the difficult start, the little family thrived in our care. After spending some precious time with us, mum was returned to her owner, who has now made the responsible decision to have her neutered—ensuring she won’t have to go through another unexpected pregnancy.
As for the puppies, they both grew stronger every day, showing their playful personalities and love for life. Dexter, a confident and curious little boy, was soon ready to find his forever home. In January, he was adopted by a wonderful family who instantly fell in love with his cheeky charm.
Now, Dexter is living his best life—exploring the big, wide world, discovering new sights and smells, and bringing endless joy to his new family. From a tiny, fragile pup to a thriving, happy dog, his journey is a true testament to the power of rescue and the love that transforms lives.
We couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of our community—thank you for helping us give dogs like Dexter the second chance they deserve!
