January has flown by at Teckels Animal Sanctuary, and it’s been a fantastic month for rescue and rehoming.
Our team has been hard at work, and we’ve witnessed heartwarming stories and significant milestones.
From rehoming dogs to providing a safe haven for cats, it’s been a month filled with positive changes for the animals in our care.
These transformations remind us of the importance of our mission, and we look forward to continuing our work for the rest of 2024.
Your support has led to us being able to provide these moving stories for the animals we care for. As we reflect on the past month, we want to thank you again for the tremendous impact your generosity has on their lives.
As previously mentioned in our last update, we pause adoptions over the Christmas period. What this means is that January kicks off with a flurry of activity and adoption requests!
Here are our adoption figures for the month:
– Five beloved cats have found new loving homes and brought joy to their new owners. It’s great to see them thriving, enjoying their new lives with their forever families.
– Not just one, not two, but six amazing dogs have finally found their forever homes!
In our commitment to providing sanctuary to strays:
– We worked with the council and rescued 14 stray animals, a massive increase from December.
– Of these, we successfully reunited 4 with their grateful owners. An incredible achievement!
– 8 found refuge with other rescue organisations, ensuring they continue to receive the care they need.
None of these achievements would have been possible without your unwavering generosity and support.
Your donations have been the cornerstone of our mission, offering care, shelter, and new beginnings to animals in need.
Rosie and Ruby’s Journey to Happiness
Rosie and her stepsister Ruby were surrendered to us last year due to their owner’s ill-health. We noticed that both dogs thrived when given individual attention, so we worked to find separate homes where they could be loved and cared for individually.
While Rosie was under our care, we prioritised her comfort and health. Our veterinarians recommended BOAS surgery to improve her breathing and airways, which is common in her breed.
Rosie was a very affectionate dog who charmed everyone she met, including the vet nurses. Ruby found her forever home just before Christmas, and Rosie was also adopted in January. She is now happily settled in her new home.
Bruce’s Transformation and New Life with Beau
Bruce joined Teckels in the late summer of last year through no fault of his own.
He had the opportunity to spend time in one of our foster homes to boost his confidence and gain some weight. With the support of his foster family, Bruce made significant progress and was eventually adopted.
He now happily resides with his new companion, Beau, with whom he loves to play.
Nala and Ortega’s Adoption Success
Nala and Ortega faced unfortunate circumstances and were surrendered to us in January due to the cost of living crisis. This brother and sister duo were promptly neutered by Teckels to prevent unwanted litters and were quickly adopted by a wonderful local couple at the end of January.
Demand for Relinquishing Animals
Just like December, we’ve seen an increasing number of people seeking to relinquish animals in need.
In December, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.
Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need and finding them loving homes remains unwavering.
