Show Some Love! ❤️
February is the month of love – and here at Teckels, love is something we see every single day.
From the volunteers who give up their weekends, to the families who open their homes to an animal in need, to the supporters who help us keep going – love is at the heart of everything we do.
This month, we’re sharing two beautiful adoption stories that prove the best love stories don’t always start with a swipe right – sometimes they start with a wagging tail or a quiet purr in a vet surgery.
Whether you’ve been part of the Teckels family for years or are just discovering us, here’s what’s been happening…

🐾 Adoption Update
January saw 2 dogs and 5 cats find their forever homes.
Every single adoption is a happy ending we never take for granted – and each one is only possible because of your support.
🚨 Stray Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation
January was another busy month for our stray services, with 27 stray dogs coming into our care:
- 10 were happily reunited with their owners
- 15 were transferred to partner rescues
- 2 have joined us as Teckels residents
The demand on our stray services shows no sign of slowing down, and we’re grateful to our dedicated team and partner rescues for helping every single dog that comes through our doors.
💛 Peggy Needs Your Help
If you haven’t yet met Peggy, now’s the time.
Peggy has been with us for over a year – arrived as a stray, survived a life-threatening infection, and become an absolute favourite with our team. She’s clever, playful, full of personality, and desperate to find a family of her own.
But recently, Peggy was diagnosed with cruciate disease in both knees. She’s only 3.5 years old, and without surgery, her quality of life will only decline. We’ve made the decision to go ahead with treatment – but at £5,600, it’s a big ask.
We’re looking for foster carers to help her recover, adopters to give her the home she’s been waiting for, and donations to help cover the cost of her care.
🐱 Maverick Finds His Wingman
Every great love story needs the right co-pilot.
Maverick was found all alone in a cemetery by a member of the public, who took him to their local vets. The vet practice contacted us to see if we could take him on for rehoming – and of course, we said yes.
But Maverick didn’t have to wait long for his happy ending. One of the vet nurses who’d been caring for him completely fell in love – and decided to adopt him herself.
From a cemetery to a loving home with someone who already knew and adored him. That’s a Top Gun-worthy landing if ever we’ve seen one. 🐾
🐕 Adora Finds Her Forever Family
Sometimes, the right person has been there all along.
Adora came to us as a stray – a young pup, under six months old, who was obviously going to grow into a big girl. She was timid, scared of everyday noises, and had clearly missed out on important puppy socialisation. The big wide world was a pretty overwhelming place.
But one of our long-term volunteers had other ideas. They fell in love with Adora at first sight – and the rest is history.
Now renamed Ivy, this once-nervous girl is living her best life. She enjoys snoozes on the sofa, plenty of cuddles, playtime, and is bravely exploring the world with her new family by her side.
Ivy’s story is a lovely reminder that sometimes your forever family is closer than you think. 💙
Demand for Relinquishing Animals
Just like December, we’ve seen an increasing number of people seeking to relinquish animals in need.
In January, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.
We know that for many families, giving up a pet is a last resort – and we’re doing what we can to help keep animals in their homes.
Our pet food bank supports those struggling to feed their pets, and our charity shop in Stroud offers low-cost pet items to ease the financial burden of pet ownership.
Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need – whether that’s finding them loving homes or helping them stay in the ones they have – remains unwavering.
Help us Continue Our Mission.
Thank you to everyone who supports Teckels – whether you donate, volunteer, adopt, foster, shop with us, or simply share our stories. You are the reason we can say yes when animals need us.
If you’d like to help make more happy endings possible, please consider making a donation today.
With love and gratitude,
The Teckels Team 🐾
