February 2025 – Adoption Update

Spring into March: A Busy Month at Teckels

With brighter days and the first signs of spring emerging, March has brought a flurry of activity here at Teckels.

While we’re enjoying the longer days and the hint of sunshine, we’re also experiencing unprecedented demand, with more people than ever needing to surrender their cats and dogs. Our team is working tirelessly to provide the best care for every animal that comes through our doors.

Supporting Pets and Their People

The demand for our services has never been higher, and at Teckels, we’re committed to helping pet owners keep their beloved animals at home.

Our charity shop on Russell Street in Stroud offers affordable pet essentials like leads, collars, beds, and harnesses, alongside clothing, books, toys, and bric-a-brac—all with 100% of profits supporting our rescue work.

For those struggling with pet care costs, our Pet Food Bank provides free dog and cat food, as well as discount vouchers for our charity shop. Held every third Thursday at Starbucks, Stroud, we’re here to offer practical support and help families stay together with their pets.

Amid the challenges, there have been plenty of uplifting moments – heartwarming adoptions, incredible transformations, and wagging tails reminding us why we do what we do.

There’s never a quiet day at Teckels, and we’re so grateful for the continued support that helps us be there for the animals who need us most.

Nancy’s Journey: From Nervous Pup to Loving Home

Nancy arrived at Teckels as a five-month-old puppy, unsure of the world around her. She was nervous and under-socialised, and sadly, the resident dog in her previous home didn’t get along with her, leading to her surrender.

For nearly two years, our dedicated team worked tirelessly to build Nancy’s confidence—helping her feel more comfortable meeting new people and exploring the big, wide world.

Their patience and care paid off, and we’re thrilled to share that Nancy has finally found her forever home! She has settled in beautifully with her new family, proving that with time, love, and the right support, even the most nervous dogs can blossom.

We couldn’t be happier for her!

Crumpet’s Second Chance

Poor Crumpet had a tough start—after being involved in an accident, he suffered a broken right hip. Sadly, his family was unable to afford the treatment he needed, and they had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender him.

Thankfully, kind-hearted vets stepped in, covering the cost of his Femoral Head and Neck Ostectomy (FHNO) surgery and providing him with a foster home while he recovered.

Once he was strong enough, Crumpet arrived at Teckels on 23rd January, and just a few weeks later, on 12th February, he found his forever home!

Now, he’s settling in with his new family, ready for a future filled with love, comfort, and plenty of well-deserved cuddles.

Demand for Relinquishing Animals

Just like January, we’ve seen an increasing number of people seeking to relinquish animals in need.

In February, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.

Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need and finding them loving homes remains unwavering.

Help us Continue Our Mission

Thank you to everyone who donates to Teckels, your generosity is making a profound difference.

Your support is the driving force behind our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for animals in need. Every contribution plays a vital role.

We invite you to become a donor today and continue making a difference.

Your support enables us to provide care, shelter, and hope to countless animals seeking a second chance at a better life. Together, we can create positive change and ensure a brighter future for these animals.
