February 2024 – Adoption Update

Teckels Adoption Update March 2024

Can you believe it’s March already?

We hope you’re all coping well with the wet weather – those dog walks aren’t much fun when it’s pouring outside!

As we bid farewell to February, filled with love and perhaps a few too many rainy days, we can’t help but reflect on the whirlwind of events that have unfolded at Teckels Animal Sanctuary.

February, the month of love, brought with it not only affectionate gestures between humans but also an outpouring of adoration for our furry friends. Valentine’s Day wasn’t just for couples; it was a day to celebrate the unconditional love and companionship that our pets provide us every day. Whether it was a cosy cuddle with a cat, a playful romp with a dog, or simply showering them with extra treats and affection, our furry family members were shown love and adoration in abundance.

We’ve seen heartwarming stories and significant milestones that have filled our hearts with joy and gratitude.

Throughout the month, our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to provide a safe haven for cats and find loving forever homes for dogs in need. Your support has been instrumental in making these positive changes possible; we are incredibly grateful for that.

So here’s to February – a month filled with love, compassion, and endless possibilities for the animals at Teckels Animal Sanctuary.

Thank you for being a part of their journey.

Adoption Update

February brings a whirlwind of activity to Teckels Animal Sanctuary as adoption requests surge in. It’s as if the warmth of Valentine’s Day has sparked a renewed interest in giving our furry friends the love-filled homes they deserve. With each inquiry, hope blossoms for our animals, as we strive to match them with families ready to open their hearts and homes.

Here are our adoption figures for the month:

🐱 – Seven cats have been welcomed into loving homes, where they’ve become cherished members of their new families.

🐶 – Sadly, only two adoptions were secured for dogs in February. We’re working harder than ever to find adopters for the dog in our care.

In our commitment to providing sanctuary to strays:

🚚  – We worked with the council to rescue 9 stray animals.

❤️  – Of these, we successfully reunited 3 with their grateful owners. An incredible achievement!

✔  – 6 found refuge with other rescue organisations, ensuring they continue to receive the care they need.

None of these achievements would have been possible without your unwavering generosity and support.

Your donations have been the cornerstone of our mission, offering care, shelter, and new beginnings to animals in need.

From Stray to Stay: Karma’s Journey to a Loving Home

When Karma arrived as a stray at the veterinary clinic, her condition was heart-wrenching. She had severe flea allergies that had taken a toll, leaving her with significant hair loss and an undeniable look of discomfort.

Our team, recognising the urgency of her situation, sprang into action, their compassion and expertise shining through.

Karma was treated with the utmost care, receiving two steroid injections over the span of a month, designed to ease her itching and promote healing.

As the days passed, the Teckel’s staff watched over Karma with a vigilant eye, celebrating each small sign of improvement.

Her fur began to make a slow but steady comeback, a testament to both her treatment’s effectiveness and Teckels’ nurturing environment. Once her skin condition was under control, the team took the next crucial steps to ensure Karma’s long-term well-being: she was spayed and vaccinated, preparing her for a brighter future.

The search for Karma’s forever home was undertaken with great dedication. We understood the importance of finding a family that would offer her not just love but the patience and understanding she needed to thrive.

When a couple was introduced to Karma, it was as if the stars had aligned. They were immediately drawn to her gentle spirit, seeing past her initial shyness to the loving cat underneath.

Their decision to adopt her was instant!

Karma’s transformation from a timid, health-stricken stray to a beloved family pet was nothing short of miraculous.

It was a journey made possible by the unwavering dedication and love provided by the Teckels team, a testament to our commitment to giving animals like Karma a second chance at life.

In her new home, surrounded by affection and care, Karma has blossomed, and her fondness for cuddles and food grows daily.

Meet Dennis: The Stray Who Stole Our Hearts This Valentine’s

Young Dennis arrived at Teckels as a stray.

With no one stepping forward for him after a week, we welcomed him into our rescue kennels on the 8th day and kicked off his journey to find a new home.

Right from the start, he was a social butterfly, loving treats and cuddles from everyone he met. Dennis was just the perfect example of his breed!

We got him neutered, gave him his vaccination jabs, and he continued to be the easiest pup to get along with—always so happy and excited about everything!

It was hard to believe no one came looking for him!

But the good news is, Dennis has found his forever home now and he’s clearly loving life with his new family!

Demand for Relinquishing Animals

Just like January, we’ve seen an increasing number of people seeking to relinquish animals in need.

In February, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.

Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need and finding them loving homes remains unwavering.
