December 2023 – Adoption Update

Happy New Year! 🎉

We hope you had a great Christmas break and your cats didn’t terrorise the Christmas tree! We also hope that the cold weather isn’t discouraging your dogs from wanting to go out for a walk, or you for that matter!

As December came to a close and the party season is wrapped up for another year, we want to share with you the heartwarming stories and achievements that your support has made possible at Teckels.

Thanks to your unwavering generosity, December was filled with joy and gratitude.

Adoption Update

December tends to be a quieter month for adoptions, as many families choose to wait until after Christmas to welcome a new furry friend into their homes. Additionally, to ensure our animals have a peaceful holiday season, we temporarily pause adoptions over Christmas.

Here are our adoption figures for the month:

🐱 – Our feline companions have found joy, with 4 cats being welcomed into new homes.

🐶 – We’ve also celebrated 1 dog finding their forever families.

In our commitment to providing sanctuary to strays:

🚚  – We worked with the council and rescued 8 stray animals, a massive increase from October.

❤️  – Of these, we successfully reunited 4 with their grateful owners. An incredible achievement!

✔  – 4 found refuge with other rescue organisations, ensuring they continue to receive the care they need.

None of these achievements would have been possible without your unwavering generosity and support.

Your donations have been the cornerstone of our mission, offering care, shelter, and new beginnings to animals in need.

Last of the Litter: Jace, December’s Special Pup

Jace, the only dog adopted in December, held a unique place in the hearts of the Teckels staff. He was the last of his litter to find his forever home, a distinction that made him all the more special.

Even his mother had been adopted before him, leaving Jace as the sole survivor of their lovely, lively, and leggy litter.

Their journey had begun right at the Sanctuary, where they were born into a world of care and dedication. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure that each pup grew confident and happy despite their early challenges. From timid beginnings to wagging tails and playful antics, the transformation of the litter was a testament to the love and devotion of the shelter team.

While Jace may have been the last to leave the shelter, his new family would soon discover the incredible character that had formed during his time here. He brought with him the spirit of resilience, having overcome the odds, and his journey served as a reminder of the importance of patience, love, and dedication when it came to finding forever homes for every furry friend in need.

Jace, the once-shy pup, was now ready to embark on a new adventure filled with love, happiness, and a future filled with endless tail-wags.

The Rodborough Dog Tree

We would like to extend a special thank you to all those who donated via the Rodborough Dog Tree. This cherished Christmas tree on Rodborough Common serves as a touching memorial for beloved pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. Each year, dog walkers and their four-legged companions visit this tree, leaving heartfelt messages and poems in honor of their furry friends.

The tradition of the Rodborough Common Christmas tree has grown over the years, with dog walkers and pet lovers coming together to remember their loyal companions.

This year, the tree also served as a source of donations for Teckels. The contributions this year were nothing short of wonderful and heartwarkming! And a massive thanks must go to the kind volunteers who emptied the plastic box at the tree’s base daily!

Your support, whether through donations, messages of remembrance, or pet food contributions, has made a meaningful impact on the lives of the animals in our care.

We are deeply grateful for your kindness, and it is through your continued support that we can provide a safe and loving environment for animals in need.

As we step into a new year, let us remember that together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless furry companions. Thank you for being a part of our Teckels family and for sharing in our mission to give every animal a chance at a brighter future.

Shoebox Campaign 2023

Every year, our dogs and cats are spoiled with love during the holiday season. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide them with not only new toys but also the opportunity to rotate these toys, ensuring a stimulating environment for our animals in our care. Your contributions this year were truly amazing, and some of the toys we received were beyond what we could have afforded ourselves.

We also received valuable donations of hot dogs and tuna, which play a crucial role in medication and treatment delivery. These items serve as perfect “hiding food” for our animals in need. Additionally, your donations of treats have been instrumental in our training efforts. We use 6-8 packets of treats daily as we work to rehabilitate our dogs and cats, focusing on their behavior to ensure they find a happy and secure forever home.

In less glamorous news, we want to express our gratitude for the countless poo bags you provided. These may seem small, but they are essential in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for our shelter residents.

Demand for Relinquishing Animals

Just like November, we’ve seen an increasing number of people seeking to relinquish animals in need.

In December, we received over 100 calls and emails from individuals looking to rehome dogs and 90 for cats.

Teckels’ commitment to helping animals in need and finding them loving homes remains unwavering.

Help us Continue Our Mission

Thank you to everyone who donates to Teckels, your generosity is making a profound difference.

Your support is the driving force behind our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for animals in need. Every contribution plays a vital role.

We invite you to become a donor today and continue making a difference.

Your support enables us to provide care, shelter, and hope to countless animals seeking a second chance at a better life. Together, we can create positive change and ensure a brighter future for these animals.

Join us in making a lasting impact today.
