OUR Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting from us, please keep an eye on this page and Facebook where we will be advertising some of our lovely rescue cats in need of a home very soon.
We are only taking applications via our website at the moment.
Visitors are not able to come and view the cats on site without a prior appointment.
Please read our How to Adopt page before applying to adopt an animal.
Adoption DONATIONS
We ask for an adoption donation of £90 for a cat and £100 for kittens.
This includes:
- neutering or spaying (if under 6 months a voucher will be issued)
- first part of their annual vaccination
- all associated veterinary costs while the cat is at Teckels
- microchipping
- worming and flea treatment
- welcome home packet
- 4 weeks free insurance with PetPlan
This fee is only a contribution to the cost of caring for an animal in rescue until they are adopted, and we would ask all adopters to consider becoming a regular donor via Charity Checkout, as a way of continuing your support.
Please don’t forget to buy your associated pet products from our shop. Every little helps towards the ongoing care of our animal
Kittens
Kitten season runs primarily from April to November. We always have a huge demand for kittens but as with all our rehoming animals, we do not operate a first come first served allocation system.
If you would like to adopt a kitten please keep your eyes on this page for any that are put up for adoption, and put in an online application.
You will need to visit your kitten at the centre before you can adopt and a non-refundable deposit of £20 is payable on reservation. Kittens are able to be rehomed once neutered.
Please note, we are unable to hold peoples details for kittens due to the high volume of interest we are receiving.
Neutering Policy
Neutering is the only effective and safe way to reduce the number of unwanted cats in the UK and most animal rescue centres will have a policy similar to Teckels.
It is important that potential adopters understand that it is mandatory for all Teckels kittens (male and female) to be neutered when they reach the appropriate age, and we will provide adopters with a neuter voucher for this purpose. This voucher is redeemable at one of several Gloucestershire vet surgeries.
When you adopt a kitten from us you enter into a contractual agreement to neuter your cat at the appropriate age and you acknowledge that Teckels reserves the right to remove the cat from your care if you do not adhere to the terms of the agreement.
