Why help us?
Like many smaller charities, Teckels is very busy and strives to make the most of every penny. With the right board supporting the charity, it means that we can push Teckels forward in new unexplored areas, ensure that we are fully compliant and running exactly how we should be, but are also doing the very best that we can for the animals who are most in need. There are always new challenges, and new problems to be solved, so the board is keen to have new members on the board that think outside of the box, embrace change, and will support the staffing team.
The current board believes that Teckels Animal Sanctuaries has evolved from its origins as a boarding business with occasional animal rescue and now needs to move further towards being a rescue charity offering boarding services specifically to support its charitable aims. We are seeking a trustee that will share our passion and vision to achieve this. With the increasing numbers of animals needing rescue spaces, we want to ensure we remain here to help. Our strategic priorities for 2022-2027 are:
- Develop a long-term sustainable organisation.
- Support public understanding of positive animal welfare practices to reduce the number of animals in rescue locally.
- Create an organisation that offers quality of care across all delivery areas.
- Make use of, maintain, and improve physical resources available on or off-site.
- Maximise promotion opportunities, fundraising, and long-term partnerships.
- Maximise welfare and rehoming activities for cats and dogs.
Our board
Our current trustee board is made up of three trustees: Kit, Angelina, and Peter.
They cover the areas of finance, governance, and business, and so we are looking for new trustees to join us and help us achieve a more rounded board and help the charity to progress forward.
The roles we are looking to fill are:
- Chairperson
- Fundraising trustee
- Estate management trustee
Trustee meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of every month at the Centre in Whitminster. They start around 5.30pm and last a couple of hours. The dates of these can be flexed somewhat to suit the board’s availability.
How to apply: If, after reading the pack, you would like to apply for one of the trustee vacancies, please send your CV and a supporting statement of no more than 2 pages, addressing how you meet the requirements of the role, relevant skills and experience, and why you would like to join our team.
Please send to Angelina (the acting chair): angelina@teckelsanimalsanctuaries.co.uk.
