Just look at this handsome boy!!
Wilbur is looking for his new pad with a patient family who can help him settle and find his feet. Although he looks like a big, confident lad, Wilbur can be a bit of a sensitive soul and would prefer to live in a quieter area away from hustle, bustle and busy roads. He would like his new family to be able to offer a calm house hold with limited visitors and lots of consistency throughout the day as he does feel happier with predictability.

Being on the nervous side, Wilbur is likely to need to stay on his lead when he is out for walks so will need a fully enclosed garden at home to stretch his legs - although big; he just needs enough garden to toilet and potter without being restricted.

Wilbur may do well for having a resident doggy friend at home and has been able to meet dogs of varying ages and sizes here. We are not sure if he has ever lived in a house before so he maybe better suited to a dog friend that has shared their space previously and could help show Wilbur the ropes! Wilbur would also like to make some doggy friends on walks, once he has settled, as this can also help him feel more confident about the world.

Wilbur can be unsure of meeting new people and would need a 'safe' area in the home, especially initially, so he can retreat from people if he feels worried. Fortunately this boy is foody and clever so he can be won round but this must only be done at a pace he is comfortable with. Once Wilbur knows you, he adores but this can just take some time. He will need to live in an adult only home.

Wilbur does not seem to have received much training so the staff are currently working on some manners and basic obedience skills. He does mostly walk nicely on the lead but can be strong when he's worried (particularly heavy traffic, poor boy). Wilbur can also forget his manners, especially around food and treats so the staff here are working on reminding him to keep those pesky paws on the floor. He will need some continued training around manners and food once home but the Teckels training team are on hand to assist with this.

Wilbur is potentially a Caucasian Shepherd (mix) which can be known to have some quirky breed traits. Experience with Caucasians/ guard breeds or extensive breed research would be beneficial.
