My Personality:

Thor is a beautiful shepherd who originally came into the centre as an underweight stray badly in need of vet treatment. He has since gained his strength and has grown into a happy and lively young dog.

Having such a poor start to life has meant that Thor has missed out on earlier socialising and training, and during his time here at teckels he has enjoyed working with staff to learn these important skills. He is very food motivated which has been a great reinforcement for training.

Thor will need a family who are confident with having a dog of his size, and are able to continue his reward based training to help him overcome some of his worries and challenges.

He can have calm dog walking friends, though would like to be the only pet in the home so he can have all the snuggles for himself. He is a curious chap and loves going for walks with his human and dog friends here at the center, and while mostly calm on the lead he can be strong if he sees a distraction.

Thor loves toys and food based enrichment such as kongs, puzzle feeders and destruction boxes, which has been great to keep his clever brain occupied in kennels. When Thor isn't running around playing or getting stuck into enrichment, he loves to take himself off and settle down for a nap.

He will need a fairly large and fully secure garden for zoomies and playtime, as well a space on the sofa for him to have a well deserved snooze.

Thor does have a few worries around new people, so will need a quiet adult only household with someone who is around most of the day for him to build his confidence and settle at his own pace. Though not essential, breed experience would be beneficial.

Despite being a challenging breed we really feel in the right home Thor will make such a lovely companion.
