My name is
Lovely Lola is on the hunt for a very special home. She has been with us for a little while and the team have worked super hard to help Lola learn some new skills to be able to settle into a home and now needs the perfect environment to match!
Lola’s ideal new home will be away from busy roads with access to quieter walks. She would like to live in an adult only home with no visiting children and would prefer to have a consistent daily routine to help her make sense of everything. Lola would benefit from having a ‘safe area’ at home where she can retreat to if she is finding life a little overwhelming; she can also struggle with meeting new people so this space would also be useful for her to have somewhere nice to go when strangers are around. Lola will need a secure garden, big enough to play in with minimum 5ft fences.
During Lola’s stay at Teckels we have discovered she does have some behavioural quirks and can find things like sharing toys and chews a bit tricky. As mentioned, her carers have done some amazing work to help her with this but she will still require some ‘management’ in certain areas. We are therefore looking for dog savvy owners who have had experience with dogs previously – bonus points if you’ve already owned a quirky dog!
Due to her worries around sharing, Lola would like to be the only pet in her new home. She does have some doggy social skills and enjoys meeting calmer dogs on walks but would prefer not to share her home or humans. She would like to have some play friends once settled but again, this should be away from her home.
Although we appreciate that Lola does have her struggles, it’s important to highlight all of her plus points too! Firstly, Lola is beautiful, an absolute cutie! She loves her treats and training and has mastered quite the array of tricks. She can sit, do both paws, knows stay, lie down, roll over and has a very enthusiastic ‘bang’ trick. Lola has started her crate training journey and will happily run in and wait for you to give her a tasty Kong to settle with. She has been in a home previously and could be left for a couple of hours, she was also housetrained and slept through the night. For the most part, Lola walks nicely on the lead, she does occasionally forget her lead manners but is happy to go back to trotting along when asked. She has also been doing some training with her carers to jump into the car and settle when travelling.
Lola does also like a gentle fuss but we find this is generally on her terms; she’s much more of a ‘learn a new trick’ or go for a long countryside walk kinda girl. So if you like your quiet, rural walks, Lola could well be the girl for you!
As Lola can find some parts of her life less straight forward than others we would like her new family to come to the centre for multiple meets as it’s so important for Lola to feel safe around her new owners before heading home. Lola will also need to do a couple of home visits before staying to make sure our training is transferred successfully into her home environment. We understand that we are asking a lot for an adopter but we must do what is best for Lola and anyone that has the patience and understanding to help her on her journey will be rewarded with such a loving and loyal pet.
