Meet the gorgeous Gromit! This handsome, young Lurcher is at Worcester Animal Rescue Shelter, we are sharing his profile to assist a fellow rescue centre and help him find his forever home.

Sadly, Gromit came into rescue as a stray, so not much is known about his history, but he quickly proved himself to be a very sweet boy who will quickly make friends with you. Gromit is seeking a loving, patient family with children aged 10+.

Gromit loves playing with other dogs, and can potentially live with another dog, following meets at the shelter. With his typical lurcher legs, he does need a dog who can match his bouncy, exuberant nature and play style!

Due to being a stray, he has had limited training and socialisation, but he is very clever and is doing very well with training plan at the centre. It is important this will continue to be worked on in his new home, so that he can confidently go on adventures with his new family for years to come.

Gromit would like a home where his owners can take him for nice walks and potentially hire a secure field so that he can have a run around off lead. Although this isn’t a necessity, he is a dog that loves a good run, so allowing him this opportunity in a safe environment would be a bonus. Gromit walks well on the lead, but as he is young sighthound he does have some prey drive and needs his new owner to be able to hold him comfortably.

Gromit would also benefit from a family that will not leave him for long periods, he does have separation anxiety but is on some calming medication that is helping with this while in our care. Worcester Animal Rescue Shelter's knowledgeable team are on hand to ensure a smooth transition into an adoptive home. Gromit has been in foster and does settle in well to home life, he sleeps happily in a crate and will snooze for most of the day. He is very affectionate and tactile and enjoyed playing gently with children aged 10 in his foster home. He can get attached easily so he does need structure and routine and his time alone built up very slowly. He would suit someone that works from home or has hybrid hours and or help in place so Gromit’s time alone is limited to begin with until he is more comfortable.

Gromit has come a long way and is ready to find his forever family, he will certainly be a rewarding rescue dog and will make a wonderful addition to your home!
