My name is
Meet Halloumi and Feta, two very special “Cheese” Kittens who are now ready to find a loving forever home together.
Although Halloumi and Feta came from different litters and Halloumi is a few weeks older, they have been incredibly bonded since arriving in our care. They have been together throughout their time with us and were placed into foster care as a pair, where they have continued to grow, play, and recover side by side.
Their journey has not been easy. They arrived as part of a group of abandoned kittens who were suffering badly from cat flu. Feta was particularly affected, with the infection causing severe problems with his eyes. At one point, our vets and foster team were concerned that he may have lost his sight completely.
Thankfully, as he recovered, we discovered that Feta can see. His vision is reduced, with one eye appearing to be better than the other, but he is able to see and navigate his surroundings. At this stage, however, it is difficult to know whether his vision will remain stable or whether he may experience further deterioration in one or both eyes in the future.
Any potential adopters should think carefully about whether they have the time and financial commitment for their ongoing care and any potential future medical needs.
Feta plays, runs, climbs, and explores just like any other kitten. Watching him charge around and play with Halloumi, you would hardly know that he has reduced vision. Halloumi is also an important companion for him, and Feta relies on him a lot, which is why we feel it is so important that these two boys find their forever home together.
Thanks to their wonderful foster family, both kittens have received lots of love, patience, and care and have made an incredible recovery from their difficult start. They are now happy, playful, and full of personality, and they are ready for the next chapter of their lives.
As with the other kittens who suffered from cat flu, potential adopters should be aware that cat flu can remain in the body even after a kitten has recovered. This means they may experience occasional flare-ups throughout their lives, particularly during times of stress or illness. Symptoms can include sneezing, runny eyes or nose, congestion, and occasionally sore or watery eyes. Most flare-ups can be managed with supportive care, but future veterinary treatment may sometimes be needed. Feta’s eyes will also need to be monitored as he grows.
Because Feta’s vision is uncertain, we are looking for a home in a rural or very quiet area, away from busy roads, city centres and heavy traffic. We would like them to have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor life safely once they have settled in, without the risks that busy roads and urban environments could pose to a cat with reduced vision.
Halloumi and Feta can live with children, provided everyone meets them at the centre first, and appropriate introductions are made.
Both boys have received the first part of their vaccinations and are microchipped, and will soon be neutered.
These two boys have already overcome so much together. From being extremely poorly kittens to the happy, playful pair they are today. All they need is a family who will love them for exactly who they are and for both of them to continue growing up together.
